Overnight purses at Charles Town Races will rise by 10 percent, the track announced, a change taking effect March 23.
Purses at Laurel Park will be a bit lower in March than they were in February – but still 10 percent above what they had been earlier.
Monmouth Park will give purses a significant boost, the track announced, and add three days of live racing to the schedule.
Maryland’s purses will get a 15 percent boost effective immediately, and the increased purse will apply to all three state tracks through the end of 2021.
Wagering on races run in the United States was flat in January 2014 versus a year ago, as were the purses paid. But the number of racedays grew.
