Saturday’s Virginia certified and -bred stakes, the Keswick and Hickory Tree, have attracted a total of 21 runners bred in more than a half-dozen states.
A pair of Pennsylvania-breds, Carmelina and Going Up, scored in Colonial Downs two-year-old stakes Saturday, with the latter especially impressive.
At Colonial Downs, juveniles Titoschangedmyluck led a long shot parade in the Keswick Stakes, while Simply Super took the Hickory Tree.
Colonial Downs will host a pair of two-year-old stakes for Virginia horses, and Maryland-based trainer John Robb will saddle four, two in each.
Trainers Michelle Lovell and Sarah Nagle both won stakes Monday at Colonial Downs, and they and their horses are feeling right at home in New Kent.
