Cmon Frank. No offense but when did Nick D become a spokesman for Maryland racing ? He’s more concerned with the latest strain of Thai stick at the dispensary.

The MTHA with little discussion and little imagination dropped purses by ~9% across the board I believe to cover HISA expenses. The MTHA pays 39% of that but I believe.

Make no mistake, reduced racing days are being negotiated while we sleep and and if a reduction in purses isn’t going to save those dates.

Maybe a more imaginative approach would have been to charge non resident trainers / owners a membership fee in the MTHA instead of giving a free vote to all those who race in Maryland in electing board members.

Or to charge out of state bred horses a HISA tax on entering such a horse in a Maryland race.

Why should Maryland horsemen be paying HISA for the right to labels us cheaters on 60 minutes. Let the Kentuckians pay our nut.
