ANALYSIS

What a good field this open allowance has drawn: just six runners but plenty of talent. We’ll give the nod to the Flint Stites-trained #2 Dontmesawithme (3-1). The Fast Anna gelding keeps running good races, and two back, he posted an 18-1 upset in the Harrison Johnson Memorial Stakes at Laurel. His follow-up was fine, too, a fourth-place finish in an open allowance at Parx. He already owns a win over the strip and should find this field to his liking… That third-place finish last out might be better than it looks for #6 Kadri (5-1); winner Whereshetoldmetogo has earned over $800,000 in his career. A similar effort would put him in contention here. Notable: his rider two races back at Mahoning Valley was Sonny Leon, who last weekend rode Rich Strike to an 80-1 upset in the Kentucky Derby… Morning line favorite #6 No Change (2-1) enters on a four-race heater for owner-trainer-breeder John McKee and won nicely last out in the Confucius Say. The shippers look a bit stronger, but this guy could easily score for the home team… #1 Sound Off (8-1) makes his first start November here, and certainly his fall form would make him a player in this spot. He finished a rallying third in last August’s Russell Road against open company and will need his very best here…

Race 8

8-6-9-5

We’ll call for an upset to close the mandatory-payout Pick 6 and go with #8 Dr. Calkins (5-1). The Ghostzapper filly pretty much lost all chance at the start of her debut when pinched back to last leaving the gate; she found herself with a lot of ground to make up on a loose leader. She did rally willingly enough into third in what was a perfectly acceptable bow. She’s showing a bullet work in the meantime, and a clean break and expected second-race improvement would put her right there… #6 Lady Cinco de Mayo (2-1) has just missed versus similar two straight and would be hard to leave off the ticket. At the same time, though, her 0-for-6 record suggests she’s beatable… Interested to see first timer #9 Diamondcry (6-1) here. She’s a daughter of Caleb’s Posse out of a Maria’s Mon mare but went for a song at auction. The work tab, mostly at Tampa, doesn’t look bad, and trainer Jesse Cruz has won with two of 11 firsters… #5 Talented Corinna (7-2) finished well clear of our top selection last out but well behind odds-on winner Awesome Lawson. She’s been knocking on the door for a couple of starts…

4th.”Kadri” won’t get you any Cash
    and”Dontmesawithme”is good advice.
The price may get you”No Change”but
it’s better than tearing up a ticket.

    didn’t bet”Lady Cinco de Mayo”but “Dr Calkins”
    could cure what ails you.
