RACE 1

In the opening race on the first Saturday card of the season to feature a stake, #6 Epic West (7-2) was sharp second last out for trainer Kevin Patterson and looks to regain winning ways in this one-turn dash for $5,000 claimers. #5 Derek’s Boy (9-5) won last out and seeks repeat as the likely post time choice here for trainer Anthony Farrior. #4 R Boy Evens (4-1) was good third behind top pick last out and seeks first win in five starts this year for trainer Ronney Brown. #7 Fernwood Drive (10-1) makes local debut for owner-trainer Mario Serey, Jr. and could make his presence known here at a generous price.

RACE 2

In this three-turn event for $5,000 claimers, #2 Bribery (5-2) seeks second straight score and owns three wins from four previous local tries for trainer John Carlisle. #7 Auts Revolution (4-1) exits tough starter allowance event and back in with claimers where he won two straight for trainer James Dean Locklear. #1 Campari (6-1) makes local debut for Serey and gets favorable rail draw for three-turn affair. #3 Astro Rider (5-1) won two back and gives Carlisle decent chance to run one-two here.

RACE 3

In this one-turn dash for maiden $12,500 claimers, #9 Cook the Books (4-1) exits maiden special weight company and seeks diploma in 10th career try from favorable outside draw for trainer William Straughn. #8 Singing Harmony (5-2) was solid second against maiden claimers last out and also seeks to graduate in 10th outing for trainer Wade Sanderson. #7 Marleesbeebee (15-1) was good third last out for trainer Elex Bowman and could play a factor here at a big price. #4 Sondeoff (8-1) makes career debut off a series of modest works for trainer Keith Brown, including lively gate move two back.

In this one-turn dash for $15,000 claimers, #4 Banner Man (5-2) graduated last out against maiden special weight foes and bypasses allowance company to try claimers here for trainer Ronney Brown. #5 Showtime Cat (6-5) graduated versus maiden special weight company three back and exits allowance company last two for trainer Tim Grams. #7 Mindyourpsandqs (12-1) graduated versus maiden claimers two back and seeks second try against claiming foes here for trainer Joseph Stehr. #2 Becoming Smitty (6-1) defeated maiden claimers last out and seeks second straight tally here for Carlisle.

RACE 5

In this one event for maiden $12,500 claimers, #7 Readmymind (7-2) exits allowance company for trainer Jeff Runco and looks poised to graduate in this spot. #3 Jimmysextragirl (5-2) makes local and seasonal debut for trainer Stacey Viands after two starts at Thistledown last summer. #4 Gypsy’s Image (5-1) was sharp second two back for trainer Crystal Pickett and looms a factor in this spot if you excuse latest. #10 Mary Easter (20-1) exits maiden special weight company and gets favorable outside draw for trainer Glenn Harrison of Mean Bean fame.

In this one-turn dash for $5,000 claimers, #5 Benny Chang (2-1) was sharp second last out and looks poised to score here for trainer Kevin Patterson. #9 Unimaginable U (7-5) graduated against maiden claimers last out and seeks second straight tally in this spot for Farrior. #8 Pagan Smart (10-1) was solid third last out and merits an upset chance here. #6 Adios See Ya (6-1) has been second each of last two starts for trainer Ernesto Perez and could shed bridesmaid role in this spot.

In this two-turn allowance for state-breds, #5 Spunman (3-1) was solid second against allowance company last out after graduating versus maiden special weight foes two back for trainer Jeff Runco. #4 Morgan County (5-2) has been second four times in allowance outings since last summer but could emerge on top here as the tepid favorite for trainer Vernon Greaves. #2 Northern RIdge (5-1) won two of last three against claimers and vaults back into allowance company for trainer Steve Romeka. #7 Slew The Turn (6-1) defeated claimers last out for Carlisle and tries allowance rivals here.

RACE 8ORIGINAL GOLD STAKES

7-6-10-9

In the first stakes race of the year at Charles Town, the $75,000 Original Gold Stakes for West Virginia-bred fillies and mares which looks wide open on paper, #7 See Ya Manana (7-2) won her seasonal debut last out and already sports 10 career tallies but seeks first stakes score for trainer Jeff Runco. #6 Malibu Splash (5-1) also defeated allowance foes last out and half-sister to ultra-talented Moonlit Song also seeking first career stakes tally for trainer Tim Grams. #10 Brigintine Island (9-2) owns one win and three second-place efforts in four outings already this year for owner-breeder-trainer John McKee and looms a threat here despite outside draw. #9 Sherwood Lady (8-1) owns two victories against starter allowance company for trainer Mike Jones, Jr. and merits an upset chance in this spot.

RACE 9

10-7-6-8

In this two-turn affair for $4,000 claimers, #10 Katman Quick (8-1) has been second three times and third twice in six starts this year for trainer Linda Dohlinger-Stehr but could shed bridesmaid role here in the finale. #7 Bellows (7-2) has been second twice and third twice recently for trainer Brandon Kulp and could triumph here. #6 Cavallotto (4-1) was good third two back and could emerge as mild upset here. #8 Back Page (3-1) makes local debut for trainer Ben Feliciano, Jr. and looms the favorite here.

    will be singing the blues if “Tina’s Song”
    comes along. I’ll “Sondeoff” when this
    Hemp firster comes ready to run.
