#11 Laughing Fox (20-1)
Why he COULD win the Preakness: The deep closer won the “win and you’re in” Oaklawn Invitational to earn his spot here after finishing fourth in the Arkansas Derby, just a length behind next-out Kentucky Derby winner Country House. He might get a favorable pace to run into here and could make some noise. Trainer Steve Asmussen and rider Ricardo Santana, Jr. have had great success at Old Hilltop over the years, including a score in the G3 Pimlico Special yesterday.

Why he SHOULD NOT be able to win the Preakness: Like several of these, he’s never run as fast as the best of these (career-best Beyer of 91). With the Oaklawn Invitational having been May 4, he also is robbed of one of the benefits that some new shooters have over Derby horses, which is freshness.
