It’s another fairly quiet weekend in the mid-Atlantic — but that’ll change next weekend, when the Maryland Million hit town, with West Virginia Breeders Classics the same evening.  Here’s what’s on tap:

  • Two Parx stakes tomorrow — but will the rain turn ’em into a washout?
  • Laurel’s feature is a third-level allowance, but its most interesting race might be a maiden event.
  • For the first time since May, mid-Atlantic racing won’t involve either Monmouth or Delaware this weekend.
  • Advance warning… on Thursday the Maryland Horsemen’s Assistance Fund will host a fundraiser for injured exercise rider Jose Villegas — a worthy cause, horemen helping their own.
  • Also tomorrow, look for Gabby Gaudet’s longshots and exotic plays!
