Louis Merryman announced today that Holy Boss, G2 winner, multiple G1-placed and listed stakes winner of $771,527, will enter stud at Anchor & Hope Farm to join Imagining and Bourbon Courage for the 2018 season.
Bred by Adena Springs and trained by Steve Asmussen for Jerry Durant, Holy Boss won going away on debut in a maiden special at Churchill by 10 ¼ lengths and tabbed a TDN Rising Star.

The son of Street Boss went on to win the Amsterdam (G2) at Saratoga in 1:15.3, receiving a 102 Beyer speed figure. Other notable achievements include running third to champion Runhappy in the King’s Bishop (G1) and second to leading sprinter A. P. Indian in the Vanderbilt (G1).
He ran fourth in the 2015 TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), only 3 ½ lengths behind Runhappy and Private Zone, defeating the likes of Kobe’s Back and Limousine Liberal. Holy Boss retires sound and without injury, having earned eight 100 or higher Beyer figures over a 22-race career from ages two to five.

Holy Boss is out of Holy Grace (Holy Bull), who is also responsible for Holy Helena (Ghostzapper), winner of this year’s Queen’s Plate against males at a mile-and-a-quarter and the Woodbine Oaks. Holy Boss hails from the dynamic sire family of Raja Baba and A.P. Indy.
“Holy Boss is one of those unique stallion prospects that has precocity, speed, soundness, depth of family and the physicality to match,” Merryman said. “Adding him to the roster to be available to Mid Atlantic breeders was an easy choice.”

08th Oct 2017No Northern Dancer in his pedigree. That, and a race record of competing at a high level for a number of years makes him an attractive stallion prospect in my opinion. There are far too many inbred glass bullets who ran a half dozen times and retired to the shed.
