All nine of Delaware Park’s Thursday races are for Thoroughbreds, and it’s a pretty interesting set of races, including a couple of maiden tests for two-year-olds and an allowance. Post time is 1:15 p.m. Some horses to watch:
- The second and sixth races are two divisions of a split maiden special weight for two-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track. The sixth appears to be the deeper race, but one horse worth a look in the second is Amiability (5-1). The Larry Jones-trained daughter of Shanghai Bobby makes her debut here and caught the eye of the Delaware Park clocker with her five-furlong move August 17. Brian Pedroza, a rider with whom Jones has good success, has the mount.
- In the sixth, a couple of firsters of interest include Forget Me Not (9-2), a daughter of Uncle Mo who cost owner Rick Porter a pretty penny at auction, and Silla Manila (6-1), a Tom Proctor-trained Majesticperfection filly who is a half to multiple graded placed runner Atigun. But we’re even more intrigued by Stellar Moon (8-1). Trainer Mike Stidham will leg up Daniel Centeno on a Tapit filly out of the multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Stellar Jayne, and while Stellar Jayne hasn’t quite found the range as a broodmare, hope springs eternal. This one has posted three bullet works in her last four breezes.
- In the eighth, a $36,000 allowance going one mile on the main track, a pair of Blame fillies on the outside of the starting gate are the horses of interest, and while Rainfall (7-2) is worth a look, Tazkeya (5-2) is more interesting still. The Mike Pino trainee is out of the multiple graded stakes winner Habibti, by Tabasco Cat, and is a half to a couple of stakes winners, including the multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Eldaafer. This miss has been first or second in all three of her starts, most recently running second in a $47,000 allowance at Parx Racing. She shows a couple of good works since that effort, brings jockey Mychel Sanchez along for the ride, and rates a big shot here.
