“From the Spa” returns to keep you up-to-date on horses bred in the mid-Atlantic racing in Saratoga stakes.

The fourth race on August 12 at Saratoga is the $200,000 Grade II Adirondack Stakes. It is a 6 1/2 furlong sprint for two-year-old fillies and features eight entries — three bred in Maryland.

The morning line favorite is Pure Silver (2-1), from the prolific Saratoga jockey-trainer combo of John Velazquez and Todd Pletcher. She figures to be a handful in here.

The three Maryland-breds are:

• On the outside post is Southampton Way, the only filly of these three that has run at Saratoga. She ran on opening day and broke her maiden while stalking the pace with jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. Santana will return to ride her for trainer Horacio DePaz, and will make this filly a prime contender in this race. Bred and owned by Sagamore Farm, Southampton Way is by Into Mischief – Roadtohanna, by Not For Love and has morning line odds of 5/1.
• Two posts to the inside of Southampton Way is the six, Limited View. Originally slated to run in the Schuylerville on opening day at the Spa, Limited View was scratched. Trainer and part-owner John E. Salzman Jr., originally purchased this filly for $5,200 as a yearling and owns it with Fred Wasserloos and George Greenwalt. Limited View won her only race at Laurel Park in June after taking over at the three-sixteenths pole and never looking back. This bay filly by Freedom Child – Loves to Glance, by Not For Love picks up Kendrick Carmouche in the irons for this race. At morning line odds of 4/1, Limited View was bred by Barbara G. Smith.
• Inside of Limited View in the five post is the other Horacio DePaz trainee, Proportionality. Much like Southampton Way, she is owned and bred by Sagamore Farm, and like Limited View she won her only race at Laurel Park. Unlike the other entries, however, Proportionality does not have short odds; she’s 15-1 on the morning line. Proportionality recently breezed an impressive four-furlong workout in under 48 seconds, proving that she doesn’t lack speed. By Discreet Cat – All Mettle, by Touch Gold, she will have to give her all to defy the odds and find herself in the winner’s circle. Proportionality will be ridden by Paco Lopez.
