YESTERDAY’S NEWS: TALK LOGISTICS CRUSHES MAIDEN RIVALS

The word was out on two-year-old Talk Logistics prior to his career debut yesterday at Parx Racing.

The Eddie Plesa-trained son of High Cotton went off as the 8-5 favorite in the $50,000 maiden special weight event going five furlongs, and he lived up to his advance billing.

Under jockey Frankie Pennington, Talk Logistics forced the pace of Glory Stars for three-eighths of a mile, took the lead in the lane, and drew off to a 3 3/4 length victory.  Glory Stars held second, some six lengths ahead of Baytown Turls in third.

Bred in Florida, Talk Logistics, out of the winning Trippi mare Alotofappeal, is owned by Hardway Stables, which paid $100,000 for him at the OBS Two Year Old sale this past April.

LOOK AHEAD: TODAY’S RACING

• Tracks in action today: Delaware Park, Parx Racing, Laurel Park, and Monmouth Park
• Parx Racing offers the $200,000, Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes today (race 8), with lukewarm favoritism going to G2 winner Tuttipaesi (5-2).  The Bill Mott trainee won the G2 Santa Ana at Santa Anita last out — but that was back in March.  Chris De Carlo will ride.  If you find the long layoff daunting, perhaps the most likely alternative is Tammy the Torpedo (7-2), winner of the G3 Suwanee River two back.  She’s trained by turf ace Chad Brown, and top jock Javier Castellano comes in to ride.  Trainer Michael Stidham’s Zipessa (3-1) was third in the G3 Mint Julep last out and will have Florent Geroux, who took down the G1 United Nations yesterday at Monmouth, aboard.
• Monmouth Park hosts the Lady’s Secret Stakes today, and the field, headed by G1 winner Angela Renee, is a solid one.  Click the link for more.

• We’re interested to see Love You Back (2-1) in the ninth, a $34,000 maiden event, at Delaware Park today.  The first-time starter is favored in the eight-horse field despite what appear to be some promising rivals.  The Put It Back filly was a $135,000 auction purchase by Fox Hill Farms as a yearling and enters this race showing four bullet works over the strip, including a five furlong breeze in 59 3/5 seconds on June 29.  For good measure, trainer Larry Jones has sent out 12 winners from 22 starters to date at Delaware.  Carol Cedeno will ride.
