WBAL Radio’s Scott Wykoff will be covering Saturday’s Grade 1, $1.5 million Preakness for the 14th consecutive year.

Scott has won numerous national and local awards, among them an Eclipse Award, in 2006, when he was part of the team that covered the saga of Barbaro.  He also won, in 2010, the Old Hilltop Award from the Maryland Jockey Club for his coverage of the sport and attendant issues.

But Scott’s more than just a guy who works around racing; he’s a genuine fan and can often be found buzzing around Laurel Park and Pimlico during live racing.  As he relates here, he was a big fan of I’ll Have Another, the Doug O’Neill trainee who won the 2012 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes but was scratched from the Belmont Stakes the day before that race.  And, yes, he’ll be rooting for Nyquist come Saturday…

Check out Scott’s blog here.
