MHBA elects new officers

At the Board of Directors’ meeting held Monday, July 28 at the Maryland Horse Breeders Association’s office in Reisterstown, the new board elected Richie Blue as president, Josh Pons as vice president and William K. Boniface as secretary/treasurer.

Richard F. Blue Jr. — Owner of Blue & Obrecht Realty LLC and a resident of Baltimore County, Blue first served on the board in 2001 and was last on in 2021 when MHBA president. 

Josh Pons — A past-president of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, Pons owns Country Life Farm in Bel Air and Merryland Farm in Hydes, Md., with his brother Mike. They stand stallions and operate racing and breeding partnerships. 

William K. Boniface — A member of the MHBA since 1983, Boniface has been the co-operator of his family’s Bonita Farm in Darlington since 1982. He served as president of the MHBA in 2004 and 2005 and has been secretary/treasurer since 2023.

The MHBA Board includes Brooke Bowman, Henry “Tim” Clark, Charles Fenwick Jr., Lisa Golden Hofstetter, Christine Holden, Michael Horning, Grace Merryman, Garrett Murray, Kent Allen Murray, Thomas Rooney, Phil Schoenthal and David Wade.
