    I would be very interested in one of the TB racings publications to do a survey with the racetrack backstretch workers and what they have to
    say about working the backstretch in American tracks. Is it better living and working in America or back in their native countries.

    What else do you expect from a heavily capitalistic-driven sport? The lowest of the low will be exploited in any way their employers deem acceptable. Reform is only possible with the help of the backstretch workers alone.
    Now if only this article devoted some of its 878 precious words to mentioning the attempt at a NYRA backstretch union. Surely that won’t get the author in trouble, right?…

      Let me be clear, I’m still extremely pro-racing, but we as an industry can’t ignore these problems and buy into Repole-ized visions of progress. Addressing them promptly firsthand has to be the first step to regaining our SLO.
