ANALYSIS
Two-year-old maiden fillies on tap in this contest, and we’ll seek a bit of an upset with #6 Xanthe (8-1). This miss dwelt at the break in her debut and was a mile behind her rivals early. But once she got in gear, she came running late and actually galloped out in front. Despite the trouble, she was less than two lengths out of second that day… #9 Sing a Lullabye (8-5) gave her best effort yet last time out when second, and trainer McKee will leg up leading local bug Mendez tonight… #8 Patti Blue Eyes (5-2) exits the same race as our top choice and finished 1 3/4 lengths ahead of that one while no match for winner Bella Mela. Do note that she finished ahead of the favorite in here two back… It’s not a great group, so if a first-timer is a runner, she’ll have a big shot to win. The most likely of those is #1 Wishing for Spring (10-1). The Juba filly’s works are uninspiring, but she gets one of trainer Casey’s go-to riders in Almodovar…

There was a lot going on in that last race for #2 Manhattan Weave (8-5). He was fractious in the gate, tried to make a move on the rail but got shut off, and then was shut off again when trying to go between horses. A cleaner trip likely makes him a winner tonight… In that same race, #4 Thunderinreadyrick (5-1) lost all chance when missing the break, then made a willing wide run before tiring late. Similar to our top choice, he can make an impact if he gets out of the gate cleanly… The speedy #1 Cats Diamond Boy (5-2) will look to take ’em all the way… #3 In High Gear (7-2) graduated last out after a somewhat prolonged visit to the maiden ranks, and perhaps the light bulb’s gone on. Three of four to run back have graduated next out…

21st Oct 2022Xanthe went into my stable mail after her debut. Wish the race was 6.5f and don’t like the 10/6 vet scratch, but hopefully she can get a piece at a decent price. Wish I could figure Casey Sr. out with his FTS. Seems like he doesn’t try to win first out anymore.

21st Oct 2022John McKee is a perfect 6/6 with msw’s itm last out bet down to odds on in next race at 4.5f. The play is Sing a Lullabye over Xanthe in the exacta. Then because I’m an idiot, I’ll spread with Xanthe in exacta’s with the field.
