VIDEO: Looking ahead to the Maryland Million Classic

The Racing Biz and Maryland Million team up this year to create a series of videos previewing the big day. In the first of them, John and Frank take a look at the Maryland Million Classic.

Virtually all of last year’s contenders are in training this year, so it looks like the October 22 Classic may be a reunion of sorts, perhaps reuniting champion Prendimi, runner-up Tappin Cat, and even 2020 champ Monday Morning Qb.

All that said, John has a focus on another runner who didn’t make much impact last year but looks to be a much better horse this time around: Ain’t Da Beer Cold, trained by Kenny Cox.

Here’s the skinny on that four-year-old Freedom Child gelding.

AIN’T DA BEER COLD FILE

  • 4yo gelding by Freedom Child
  • Trainer Kenny Cox
  • Owner Matt Spencer, Kelly Jo Cox, and Bonuccelli Racing
  • Bred in Maryland by Matt Spencer and Kelly Cox
  • Career record of 20: 5-4-2 with earnings of $250,594
  • Highlights: 2nd in 2020 Howard County Stakes; back-to-back allowance wins last two starts
