In the Saturday night opener, a one-turn maiden $5,000 claiming dash to kick off the card, #7 Tempesta (6-1) gets favorable outside draw and will look to end extended diploma drought that includes three starts this year and 16 overall for trainer Mike Jones, Jr. #6 Wayne’s Hope (6-1) makes local and seasonal debut for trainer James Dean Locklear and post position could enhance chances. #3 Ascended (4-1) was solid second in seasonal debut last out for trainer Davis Walters and merits respect in this spot. #1 Buddyboysgotsense (9-5) makes local debut after four previous tries at Parx for trainer Anthony Farrior and looms the favorite here despite tricky rail draw.

RACE 2

6-5-7-8

In this two-turn event for $4,000 claiming fillies and mares, #6 She Figures (8-5) looks to regain winning ways for trainer Crystal Pickett and former WVBC heroine can prevail as the tepid choice here. #5 Chit Chat Girl (9-5) looms a serious contender here and merits respect in this spot for trainer Alfonso Arias. #7 Whiz Pass (15-1) can atone for latest outing for trainer Natasha Aylor and could round out several gimmicks at a big price. #8 Dance Lightly (8-1) certainly could make her presence known in this spot despite outside draw for trainer John Stahlin.

In this two-turn maiden $12,500 claiming event for state-breds, #5 Little Sir John (7-2) was solid second last out for trainer Javier Contreras and could forge mild upset here. #4 Felicias Castle (7-5) returns to maiden claimers after another try against maiden special weight foes and looms the solid choice in this spot for trainer Tim Grams. #3 Moved by Juba (8-1) was good fourth against similar last out for trainer Kristy Petty. #6 Spectaculo (5-2) was second at the level last out eight weeks ago for trainer Jeff Runco.

In this competitive, one-turn dash for state-bred $10,000 claiming fillies and mares, #7 Handsome Joanie (5-1) gets favorable outside draw in this spot for trainer Stacey Viands of Parisian Diva fame and looks poised for mild surprise. #6 Excuses Excuses (9-2) also draws well and looms a contender at a decent price for trainer Rhea Pennella. #5 La Cubana (4-1) exits stakes for seasonal debut and figures tough to beat if ready off the respite for trainer Victor Espinosa of Noble’s Honey fame. #1 Triple Gala (9-5) exits five straight allowance events after graduating against maiden special weight company for trainer Anthony Lucas but must overcome tricky rail draw at a short price.

In this two-turn event for $10,000 claiming fillies and mares, #3 Cruz in the Castle (7-2) has won her last two outings for trainer James Dean Locklear and seeks three-peat here. #1 Holly’s Persuasion (5-2) exits allowance company for trainer John McKee and gets favorable rail draw and looms tepid choice in this spot. #6 Commcat (5-1) won last out for trainer Javier Contreras and seeks second straight score at a modest price. #8 Howsafearemycolors (4-1) has been second in each of last two for trainer David Walters and could make presence known here.

RACE 6

In this interesting, two-turn allowance for older runners, #8 Fizbo (4-1) finished solid third against similar last out for trainer Ned Allard and can improve off that effort here. #5 Prairie (9-5) makes local debut following a series of good outings at the Fair Grounds for trainer Anthony Farrior and merits respect as the likely choice. #7 Tapit to the Wire (5-1) was good third in local debut for trainer Jeff Runco and looms a contender in this spot. #1 Midnight Shift (6-1) has been second in each of two local tries and gives Farrior chance to run one-two in this spot.

In this competitive, two-turn allowance for state-breds, #5 Jungle Beast (9-5) arrives riding a three-race win streak for trainer Javier Contreras and owner-breeder O’Sullivan Farms including handy score in the West Virginia Futurity last fall and deserves backing as the solid favorite in first try versus older. #8 Bull Meechum (5-2) was third against allowance foes last out after besting claimers before that and could forge mild upset here. #7 Fiber Strong (3-1) has been second in each of first two seasonal outings for trainer Jeff Runco and could end bridesmaid role in this spot. #6 Derby Day Dreams (5-1) has been consistent sort for trainer Donald Barber and could complete several gimmicks.

RACE 8

6-7-3-2

In this interesting, one-turn starter allowance to cap the Saturday night card, #6 Nellysford (6-5) gets the nod at a short price for trainer Ollie Figgins III having already won once in three starts this year and 10 times in 57 previous tries. #7 Cheese Louise (10-1) was claimed back by owner-trainer Lela Hanagan after solid second-place effort last out for trainer Ronney Brown and merits respect here at a generous price. #3 Sherwood Lady (5-2) has yet to win in four starts this year but has finished in-the-money in nearly one-half of 60 previous career outings. #2 Country Magic (8-1) could complete several gimmicks at a modest price in the final for trainer Alfonso Arias.
