Parx Racing has an 11-race card on tap for this afternoon. Post time for the opener is 12:55p.m., and we’ve got Parx picks.

How’d we do last time at Parx?

RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 44-5-2-1Favored #4 Union Annie (2-1) ought to be tough on the drop-down. After credible tries at the maiden special weight and maiden $40k claiming levels, this Union Rags filly finds her way down to the $20k level in search of a win. Trainer Mike Trombetta gets one of the top local pilots, Frankie Pennington, to do the honors, and this one exits a race from which the runner-up graduated next out… Trainer Ernesto Padilla-Preciado sends out a pair of PA-breds in this contest, and all signs are he likes #5 Cloud Skipping (5-1) the better of the two. The sophomore Uncle Lino filly has been working well enough since early March and is a half to three winners. The owners will not run this one for the tag here, and the trainer will leg up solid journeyman Silvestre Gonzalez… Another firster in here is #2 Weddingnightjitters (10-1). The Effinex filly is a half to seven winners, including a stakes winner, and while her work tab is fairly modest, it looks like trainer William Hogan sharpened her up a bit last time when she breezed a half in 48 1/5 seconds, easily her best work on the page… Let’s give another crack to #1 Seven Clubs (4-1). Her debut, against Gulfstream Park maiden special weight rivals was good enough to win here, and while her subsequent races aren’t much, perhaps on her second off a nine-month break she can recapture her better form…
Race 108-7-4-9There looks to be plentiful speed in this starter allowance, so we’ll look for a horse that can rally into the pace. The formful #8 Caramel Cream (3-1) fits that bill and has won two straight versus similar. Two back the Graydar mare broke in air but still managed to rally for a narrow triumph. Last out, she pressed the pace and went on to win a tight one, but one in which the top pair were seven clear of the rest. Look for her to be sitting off the speed here before going on by… #7 Your Pal (4-1) will likely be on or near the lead and perhaps is best suited of any to be there and stay on. She had a three-race win streak snapped when third last out… As long as we’re looking for horses to rally, howzabout longshot #4 Sally O’Prado (20-1). She’s probably no longer good enough to win here, and her trainer is 0-for-48 in 2020-21, but she is the runner whose style perhaps best fits the anticipated pace… The speedy #9 Gambit’s Girl (5-1) figures to get a class test today after obliterating claiming rivals by 10 lengths last out. Seems like a positive sign that rider Haddock picks this one over the #1 horse…
