Which jockeys and trainers at Penn National have been hot? Funny you should ask: we wondered the same thing.

So we created a quick-and-dirty metric for the handicappers among us. The metric includes wins, win percentage, and wagering return on investment in one number. To limit it to who’s hot, we’ve included data from just the past 50 or so days — since January 15, 2021.

TRAINERS EN FUEGO

Trainer Jamie Ness has been pretty much the definition of “on fire” at Penn National the last several weeks. With limited opportunities, he’s won with six of 13 starters (46%) while registering a +96% wagering ROI that’s best among all trainers there with more than three wins.

All of that has given him a Penn-topping score of 143. He’s followed by Demelza McMahon (7 wins, +33% ROI) and Flint Stites (9 wins, +27% ROI).

Track wins leader Tim Kreiser (16 wins, 25% strike rate) is next with 110 points, followed by Paulina Sinnefia (3-for-10, +151% ROI).
