From a Delaware Park release

Tom Creel has been named Racing Secretary at Delaware Park.

Creel, 61, was the Assistant Racing Secretary at Parx for the last three years. He succeeds Jerome Doro, who was named the Director of Racing at Oaklawn Park in late September.

“I am very pleased to announce on behalf of Delaware Park that Tom Creel has been offered and has accepted the position of Racing Secretary,” said John Mooney the Executive Director of Racing at Delaware Park. “He has a thorough knowledge of Mid-Atlantic racing and he will attract new horsemen to Delaware Park because of his many years of experience in the industry. The entire staff is excited and looking forward to supporting him in his new role.”

Creel is also the Racing Secretary at Suffolk Downs where he has been serving in that capacity since 2008. Previously, he was a Racing Official at various eastern racetracks including Finger Lakes, Suffolk Downs, Rockingham Park, Penn National and Tampa Bay Downs.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to be the Racing Secretary at Delaware Park,” said Creel. “I enjoyed my time at Parx, but this was a really good opportunity with new career challenges. I am looking forward to working with the Delaware Park staff and horsemen to provide exciting and attractive racing for the fans at a racetrack with so much history and tradition.”

The 2019 live racing season will open on Saturday, May 4th and close on Saturday, October 5th. For the first three weeks of the meet, racing will be conducted on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. Thursdays will be added beginning on May 30th and continue through September 26th. The Grade III Delaware Oaks is scheduled for Saturday, July 6th and the Grade II Delaware Handicap will be run on July 13th.
