Delaware Park has a nine-race card on Monday, October 1, and the finale is for Arabians. Post time for the card is 1:15 p.m. Some horses to watch:

Race 2 – Maiden special weight

  • Two-year-old fillies will go 1 mile 70 yards on the main track in a race originally scheduled for the turf.
  • In her debut, #1 Queen of Country (part of entry, 7-2) also ran in a race taken off the turf, that one at Arlington Park where races are moved to the synthetic surface. She ran a pretty good second that day after stumbling at the start, and while the winner was clearly best, this one was clearly second best. Trainer Mike Stidham sends this Godolphin runner East for her second try. She is a daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and is a full sister to the stakes winner Bay of Plenty, whose added money win came on the main track and who was graded stakes-placed.
  • Selections: 1-5-8

Race 8 – Allowance/optional claiming

  • Fillies and mares three and up will go a mile on the main track in a race originally scheduled for the turf. IT is a first-level allowance with an optional claiming tag of $20,000.
  • Flaxman Holdings sent #13 Scandaleuse (5-1) to trainer Graham Motion after the sophomore War Front filly failed in four tries to break her maiden on the synthetic in Great Britain. She graduated in her first try in the US in a race at Delaware that was taken off the turf. She’s showing three longish works since — all at five or six furlongs — and will once again have meet leader Carol Cedeno in the irons.
  • Selections: 13-1-15
