From a Maryland Jockey Club release

Pre-entries close Wednesday, Oct. 12 for the 31st annual Jim McKay Maryland Million Day program to be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at Laurel Park.

The $150,000 Classic for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles on the main track, won last year by Admirals War Chest, is the richest of 11 races restricted to horses by stallions who were conceived in Maryland and fully nominated/certified to the Maryland Million program.

All Maryland Million eligible and Maryland-bred (not Maryland-sired) horses must pre-enter and pay the pre-entry fee by the Oct. 12 deadline. Any horse that is pre-entered and does not get the opportunity to enter a race will have the pre-entry fee refunded.

Among the horses being pointed to ‘Maryland’s Day at the Races’ are multiple graded stakes-winning 10-year-old gelding Ben’s Cat, a two-time Maryland Million winner looking to break a four-race losing streak in the $100,000 Sprint; Lovable Lady, a winner of three straight races including back-to-back stakes, for the $100,000 Distaff; 2015 Maryland Million Nursery winner Corvus to the $125,000 Turf; and 2015 Nursery runner-up Flash McCaul in the Classic.

Pre-entry forms and fees are due to Vice President of Racing Georgeanne Hale or Stakes Coordinator Coley Blind at P.O. Box 130 Laurel, MD 20725.

For further information or to confirm a horse’s eligibility prior to entering, call the Maryland Million office at 410-252-2100 or go to www.marylandmillion.com.
