Jockey Victor Carrasco had a memorable Saturday afternoon at Pimlico Race Course.

Not only did he win five of Pimlico’s nine races, but he set a course record aboard Lael Stable’s Inside Out in the eighth race.

Carrasco also won five races last October at Laurel Park.

“It was just a great day,” said Carrasco, recipient of the 2013 Eclipse Award as the country’s outstanding apprentice rider and perennial leading rider in Maryland. “I saw the overnight come out, my agent [Tom Stift] sent me the past performances, and I looked at home and knew I had some live mounts and with good trainers. I know I owe it all to them.”

Carrasco started the day winning the first race with Pure Lemon ($8). He then won the third with Saratoga Wildcat ($6.20), the fifth with Uno Emayo ($5), the sixth with Azia Brown ($6) and the eighth with Inside Out ($9.40).

Carrasco’s first three winners – Pure Lemon, Saratoga Wildcat and Uno Emayo – were all trained by Gustavo Rodriguez.

Carrasco’s winning ride on Lael Stable’s Inside Out, a 4-year-old daughter of Colonel John who brought $200,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sale 2-year-olds in training sale in 2014, established a new course record at 1 1/16 mile. Inside Out, trained by Arnaud Delacour, covered the distance in 1:40.24, eclipsing the previous mark of 1:40.32 set by Precious Kitten on May 19, 2007. It was the filly’s first start in a year.

“I didn’t know we set track record,” Carrasco said. “That’s a nice filly and an awesome trainer.”

Racing resumes Sunday at Pimlico with a 1:10 p.m. first race post.
