One man was shot and another arrested Wednesday morning in the Delaware Park stable area, Delaware Online reported.

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital, but further details — including his name and condition — were not available.  The shooting took place just before 9:00 a.m.

The state police reported that they had taken the alleged shooter into custody but did not release any additional details.

A state trooper was later seen pulling a gun from White Clay Creek on the Delaware Park grounds — coincidentally, the feature for which this afternoon’s scheduled stakes race is named — but the police would not comment on whether the gun was that used in the shooting.

It’s an unusual occurrence on the backside, which for the most part is a peaceful enough place.

“We usually get along great,” trainer Bill Sienkewicz told the paper.  “It’s like the United Nations here with people from all nations.”
