Gabby Gaudet’s got some thoughts on a live longshot and a Pick 6 play.
Pimlico’s dime Rainbow 6 wager has a carryover of $139,740 heading into Saturday’s racing action. On Friday, multiple players hit all six winners on the dime bet, taking home a payoff of $361.96.
With all that money on the line, Maryland racing analyst Gabby Gaudet shared her picks. The sequence starts with race five.

- Race 5 might be the most interesting of the sequence ($20,000 claimer going 1 1/16 miles on the grass)…#1 Capital Fellow (9-2) is a threat to go gate-to-wire from the inside stall but give a look at #8 Incisive Strike (8-1). Trainer Liz Merryman can get horses ready off the layoff, and this runner’s been competitive against better company (beat a length by Page McKenney last July), and she takes advantage of the waiver claiming rule to run him not for the tag…
- In race 6, a maiden claiming event on the main track, I’ve included a couple of longer shots, because I’m not entirely sold on favorite #4 Whisky Rock (6-5) – but I wouldn’t leave him off the ticket, either. The Jerry Robb trainee just missed at this level two back and catches a manageable group here… #1A Richard’s Gold (6-1) won at this level at first asking, was disqualified from purse money, then ran second at the level…
- Race 7, a never-won-two on the grass, sees an interesting runner in Susan Cooney’s #12 Whiskey N Gambling, who figures to improve in his second off the layoff after being outfooted going 5 furlongs
- Race 8, another grass route, this for claiming horses that have never won two, presents another interesting mix of runners… #1 All Alone (9-2) ran a credible race last out in his first try on the green and gets a positive jockey switch to Xavier Perez. A clean trip would put him in the mix here… #7 Slews Best Quality has given every indication in his career that he fits with these types and for the first time since August 2013 — the last (and only) time he’s won — he will run a race within a month of his prior start…
- Featured race 9 is a a third-level allowance on the main track… Rugged old #1 Concealed Identity (3-1) rates a look on the class relief as he hopes to break a lengthy losing skein… #5 Scuba has the look of a runner chewing through his conditions en route to added-money company
- Race 10 might provide your day-maker if #7 Not for Fun (30-1) is who we think he might be. Ferris Allen trainee – by Partner’s Hero out of a Not for Love mare – has the look of a horse who might like routing on the turf, and if he does, he could send a bettor home awfully happy.
