California Chrome arrived at Parx Racing today, in town to run in Saturday’s Grade 2, $1 million Pennsylvania Derby.

California Chrome, the even-money favorite for Saturday’s race, won both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes earlier this year, two-thirds of racing’s Triple Crown.  However, his Crown dreams went up in smoke when he dead-heated for fourth in the Belmont Stakes, a race won by Tonalist.

On Saturday, California Chrome, trained by Art Sherman, will have to contend with the speedy Bayern, who won the Grade 1 Haskell at Monmouth Park impressively at the same 1 1/8 mile distance before running up the track in Saratoga’s Grade 1 Travers.
