From a Delaware Park release
George & Lori Hall’s Vegas No Show will be making his 2014 debut in the one mile and seventy yard $50,000 Carl Hanford Memorial this Saturday.
The race, named after the trainer of five-time Horse of the Year Kelso (1960-64), has attracted a field of nine older runners. Hanford lived most of his life in Delaware and was inducted into the National Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in 2006, the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Delaware Park Wall of Fame in 2009. He died at the age of 95 in 2011. The race named in his honor has an approximate post time of 4:15 pm.
Last year, the Kentucky-bred conditioned by Kelly John Breen posted a record of two wins, a second, and a third from 11 starts with earnings of $127,374. His two victories were in the $50,000 Ricci Tavi Stakes at Delaware Park and $100,000 Coastal at Belmont Park. He has a lifetime Delaware Park record of three wins and a second from four starts. His career mark is four wins, two seconds, and two thirds from 17 starts with earnings of $241,374.
